Director: Dr. Feng Wang

Feng Wang, Ph.D., P.E., has been studying and working in the transportation engineering area for more than 15 years. His previous and current research include airline flight scheduling, public transit route planning, pavement management systems, and emergency evacuation study. He also has practical experience of traffic management, and implementation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) in an urbanized environment through his work experience with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT). His active research projects are funded by IMTrans and the Mississippi Department of Transportation (MDOT). He has publications in multiple areas in transportation and regularly serves as a referee for journals and conferences in transportation.

Lareka Washington

  • Business Manager: Lareka Washington

    Lareka Washington began serving as Business Manager of the Institute for Multimodal Transportation (IMTrans) in March 2007. Prior to joining IMTrans, she served with the Margaret Walker Alexander National Research Center at Jackson State University. She received her M.A. in 2007 from Jackson State and received her B.A. from Hollins University in 2003.

Mahesh Nayak

  • Research Engineer: Mahesh Nayak

    Mahesh Nayak began in June 2007 serving IMTrans first as a Program Development Assistant and later as a Research Engineer. He has a Masters degree in Electrical Engineering from Jackson State University. Prior to joining IMTrans, he served as a Graduate Assistant for two years to the Director of the Graduate Engineering Program at Jackson State University.

Laurette Thuisseu

    Laurette Thuisseu

    Laurette Thuisseu is a graduate student in Biology at JSU. She started working for IMTrans as a Life science intern in June 2007. Prior to joining IMTrans she worked as an Assistant at the National Center for Biodefense Communication at Jackson State University.

    Imelda Simeon

    Imelda Simeon is currently a Ph.D student in Education Administration and Supervision at JSU. She is from Namibia and has an extensive background in Education and Research. She taught at Elementary and High Schools and has 10 years of experience at the college level.
