NASA
and Jackson State University have a continuing partnership dedicated
to research and education. The NASA-funded grants and collaborations
at JSU involve the School of Education and the College of Science,
Engineering and Technology. The Educator Resource (ERC) at Jackson
State University provides educators a chance to receive free educational
materials as well as to attend various professional development workshops.
The ERC contains a vast collection of materials for educators, including
videotapes, software, printed materials and lesson plans that reflect
the most recent scientific discoveries about space, oceans and the
Earth. Subjects range from science and geography to meteorology, astronomy,
social studies and environmental science.
NASA ERC staff conduct development workshops for elementary and secondary
teachers of math, science, technology and other subjects. specialized
workshops are also offered on such topics as propulsion, remote sensing,
Earth resources and meteorology.
