RESEARCH ACTIVITIES

Obtained funding from the Office of Air and Radiation toward each major component of the Memorandum of Understanding. The Region 4 Air, Pesticides and Toxics Management Division and the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality (MDEQ) will assist the University in gaining first-hand knowledge of Agency Air activities through this grant. The grant consists of three major components: Graduate Assistantships, a Faculty Fellowship and a Pre-college program.

Submitted proposals to secure funds for multi-media research opportunities for the JSU Partnership Program. Research opportunities will include: Determination of Elevated Blood Levels for the State of Mississippi; Adapting GIS-Based Watershed Simulation Models to Region 4 State(s); Introduction to Remote Sensing and GIS for Watershed Management Training Course; Environmental Data Collection for Formerly Used Defense Sites (FUDS) in Mississippi; and Minority Serving Institutions Environmental Justice Conference.
