Summer and Academic Year Research Apprenticeship This activity is a residential program designed in the form of research apprenticeships during the summer. Twenty motivated high school students will be recruited for this activity each summer and will be assigned to faculty members who are active in research for mentoring, for six weeks. The objective of this activity is to orientate the students in research methodologies, and to help them build their confidence in their ability to perform at the college level. During the academic year, students will continue research once enrolled at JSU. Students are required to meet with the mentors 10-15 hours per week to insure maximum training benefits.
JSU faculty play a key role in mentoring and advising students to enhance the retention rate and seamless transition to graduate school through widely accepted proven techniques for mentoring and guiding STEM students.
