On behalf of the Division of Student Life, it is my pleasure to welcome you to our website. Through our web presence, we hope to provide you with information on our services, programs, mission, goals, and objectives.

The Division of Student Life encourages you to become involved in all of the positive facets of life at Jackson State so that you may gain the full benefit of the educational opportunities offered at this fine institution of higher learning.

Encompassing three units, Academic Support led by Dr. Valerie Shelby; Student Services led by Dr. Billy A. Roby; and Student Development led by Mr. Edwin Quinn, Jr. These divisional units provide services, programs, and activities for the University community. These services, programs, and activities are: The Center for Community Service/Service Learning, Federal Work Study, AmeriCorps, The National Student Exchange Program, Career Services, McNair Scholars, Upward Bound, Health Services, The Latasha Norman Center for Counseling and Psychological Services, Student Publications, HIV/Aids Project, Honda Campus All-Star Challenge, Student Organizations, Judicial Services, Campus Ministry, The Center for Student Leadership and Involvement, Greek Life, Student Government Association, JSU Spirit Team, and the Miss JSU/Queen’s Court/Pageant and Productions. We also have the pleasure of managing and overseeing the JSU Student Center and Reddix Office Complex along with scheduling of the Rose E. McCoy Auditorium and the Gibbs Green Pedestrian Walkway.

The Administrative Office of the Associate Vice President consists of our Special Assistant to the AVP/Director of Diversity Programming, Mrs. Cathy L. Patterson and our Director of Student Life Communications and Outreach, Mrs. Lori J. Stewart. With our administrative team and unit heads, the Division of Student Life strives to provide excellent services and programming to our students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community family. We want to provide you our community with the best possible services and programs a university of our caliber can provide.

The Division of Student Life’s Administrative Offices are located on the 3rd floor of the newly completed JSU Student Center. My philosophy is “Today’s Success is Founded on Today’s Preparation.” As visitors to this site, strive to be the best.
