{"id":418,"date":"2015-08-25T16:07:25","date_gmt":"2015-08-25T16:07:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/commcounseling\/?page_id=418"},"modified":"2023-10-20T20:14:58","modified_gmt":"2023-10-20T20:14:58","slug":"accreditation418-2","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/commcounseling\/accreditation418-2\/","title":{"rendered":"CACREP National Accreditation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 22px;\"><strong>CACREP National Accreditation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation and Psychometric Services<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-2434 aligncenter\" style=\"font-size: 13px; line-height: 1.6em; text-align: center;\" title=\"Department of School, Community and Rehabilitation Counseling received distinction of national accreditation.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/education\/files\/2015\/08\/2015-Coun-Rehab-Dept-Accreditation-1-300x242.jpg\" alt=\"2015 Coun Rehab Dept Accreditation (1)\" width=\"300\" height=\"242\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em;\">The Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) announced that the Department of Counseling, Rehabilitation and Psychometric Services received national accreditation for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling programs.\u00a0 This is one of the most difficult accrediting bodies in Counselor Education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The<strong> CACREP\u00a0<\/strong>Board of Directors met July 9-11, 2015 for the purpose of rendering accreditation decisions. Two programs housed in the College of Education and Human Development were reviewed under the 2009 CACREP Standards. The Board made the following decisions:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING (M.S. Degree)<\/strong><br \/>\nAccredited: Eight-Year Period through October 31, 2023<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><strong>SCHOOL COUNSELING (M.S. Ed Degree)<\/strong><br \/>\nAccredited: Eight-year Period through October 31, 2023<\/p>\n<p>According to Dr. Carol L. Bobby, CACREP president and CEO, &#8220;the above accreditation decisions were based on the Board&#8217;s extensive review of the self-study documents, the site team&#8217;s report, and your institution&#8217;s response to the site team&#8217;s report. Programs receiving accreditation for an eight-year period deserve to be commended for the work they completed throughout the accreditation process. This is indeed a worthy achievement.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pictured above from left to right starting on the stage is Dr. Frank Files, Director of the Rehabilitation Counseling Program, Dr. Alfonzo Haralson, with the Clinical Mental Health Program, Dr. Dion Porter, Department Chair and Dr. Nanolla Yazdani, Coordinator of the Psychometry Program.
