A large percentage of these children are male. Often these male children do not have a lot of contact with their fathers.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; Black males account for 8.62% of total enrollment in the nation&#039;s elementary and secondary schools, but account for 21.69% of total expulsions.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; 42% percent of all Black boys have failed an entire grade at least once.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; The national average high school graduation rate for Black boys is 47%.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; Nearly six of 10 children living with only their mother were near (or below) the poverty line.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; Of the 19 million children of single parents, two thirds live in rented homes.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; Mississippi has an 11% Black\/White Gap in graduation rates\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; Black males have the highest death rate from all causes and highest death rates from cancer, cardiovascular disease and homicides.\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&sect;&nbsp; Black males have the second lowest life expectancy at birth second only to Native American men\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<p style=\"margin-left:30.0pt\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\u200b<em>Statistics cited from: Raising Him Alone&copy;, Campaign for Grade Level Reading, The Urgency of Now<\/em>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<table cellpadding=\"0\" cellspacing=\"0\" width=\"552\">\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td align=\"left\">\n<p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">Monthly support and engagement meetings are&nbsp;held on Tuesday nights at 5:30 p.m. in the College of Education, Lecture Room 100. &nbsp;Child care services and dinner are provided.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<div style=\"clear:both\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t&nbsp;\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<p>\n\t&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; S.T.A.R.S.
