If you are\u00a0willing to\u00a0commit to teaching in high-needs school and meet the following criteria, then STEM STARS\u00a0is for\u00a0you:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul class=\"dt-sc-fancy-list orange arrow\">\n<li>Graduating college seniors (Traditional students)<\/li>\n<li>College graduates (Traditional students)<\/li>\n<li>Individuals interested in making a career change to enter the teaching profession (Non-traditional students)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Benefits:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/teacherquality\/alternate-route-certification\/\">A Master of Art in Teaching (MAT) degree from\u00a0Jackson State University<\/a><\/li>\n<li>A middle or secondary certification in Science or Mathematics<\/li>\n<li>Placement in a high-needs elementary or secondary school<\/li>\n<li>Access to the Cyber Mentoring Network<\/li>\n<li>Learn to teach by observing and teaching in actual classrooms<\/li>\n<li>Gradually take on teaching and classroom responsibilities over time<\/li>\n<li>Receive ongoing professional support during and after the program<\/li>\n<li>Make graduate studies more affordable<\/li>\n<li>Get a head start on your professional credentials to become Board Certified<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Admission Protocol:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must have earned a Bachelor degree with a 2.75 GPA or higher in a non-teaching area<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/teacherquality\/praxis\/\">Pass the Praxis\u00a0CORE or have an ACT composite test score of 21 or\u00a0better<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/teacherquality\/praxis\/\">Praxis II\u00a0 examination in a STEM subject area<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/graduateschool\/\">Apply for Admission\u00a0to the Division of Graduate Studies<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Immunization Requirements (URGENT)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/healthservices\/immunization-requirements\/\">https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/healthservices\/immunization-requirements\/<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<ul>\n<li>All students admitted to Jackson State University are required to submit proof of having received two immunization shots for measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) in order to complete registration for classes.<\/li>\n<li>If an applicant has already been admitted and plans to attend the University as a first time student (undergraduate, graduate or transfer), he\/she must submit a copy of the required immunization record to the University Health Center prior to registration for courses.<\/li>\n<li>Students who have been admitted but do not submit the required immunization verification will be unable to complete registration for classes in the school\u2019s computer enrollment system.
