\n\t\t\t\t\tThe Planning and Construction team is made up of professionals with expertise in the areas listed below:<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n

\n\t<\/a><\/strong>Building Services<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tThis sub-unit is responsible for general building maintenance such as painting, window and door repair, furniture repair, ceiling tile replacement, drywall and masonry repairs to academic and administrative buildings. Building Services also performs minor renovations to campus offices and classrooms. Some of our services include building bookcases and shelves, concrete work, and sidewalks. Shops include<\/span> carpentry<\/a>, moving<\/a><\/strong> and<\/span> painting<\/a><\/strong>. Click on the links for more information on each shop and services provided.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\t<\/a>Capital Improvement<\/span><\/span>
\n<\/h2>\n

\n\tConstruction projects managed through this unit may either be deemed a capital or campus project, based on the following criteria.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tCapital Projects:<\/span><\/strong> These projects help preserve or improve a University asset or infrastructure. Capital projects typically consist of new construction, expansion, renovation, or the replacement of an existing facility. Project costs may include contract services needed to complete the project, the cost of land, engineering, and architectural planning. Approval from the University President, IHL, and State Legislators is required.<\/span> Our Role<\/a><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n

\n\tCampus Projects:<\/span><\/strong> In general, these projects include minor interior renovations\/design, small additions, exterior improvement, or the renewal of electrical or mechanical systems. Planning and Construction manages both the planning and renovation\/construction phases. Total costs of campus projects are typically decided upon and approved by the Provost.<\/span> Our Role<\/a><\/strong>\n<\/p>\n
