Various shops and teams comprising this unit work to ensure faculty, staff, students and campus visitors are able to conduct business in a comfortable, efficient and attractive atmosphere.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/facilities\/files\/2016\/07\/Maint-Pic-2.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-3948\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/facilities\/files\/2016\/07\/Maint-Pic-2-1024x444.png\" alt=\"Maint Pic 2\" width=\"479\" height=\"207\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/facilities\/files\/2016\/07\/Maint-Pic-2-1024x444.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/facilities\/files\/2016\/07\/Maint-Pic-2-300x130.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 479px) 100vw, 479px\" \/><\/a><\/h2>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h2>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mechanical Services consists of the following trades:\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Electrical<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Energy Management<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">HVAC<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Plumbing<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Each shop provides routine inspections and quarterly preventative maintenance of university owned buildings and equipment. These measures aid in extending the life of equipment and facilities; reduce repair costs and total operating costs; improve reliability and year round performance; and increase occupant\u2019s comfort. Mechanical Services also manages and performs work related to small renovation projects. Regular business hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>All services described below are in reference to Education and Grants (E&amp;G) facilities.<\/strong><\/span><\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><strong>HVAC Shop:\u00a0<\/strong>This shop is responsible for installing, repairing, maintaining and upgrading HVAC systems and equipment along with assisting other skilled trades. Preventative maintenance includes changing filters, belts, and greasing HVAC motors and pumps on a quarterly basis.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Plumbing Shop:\u00a0<\/strong><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">This shop is responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining pipes, fixtures and other plumbing used for water distribution and waste water disposal on campus. Quarterly preventative maintenance includes checking and clearing water lines connected to sinks, toilets and drains.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><strong>Electrical Shop:\u00a0<\/strong>This shop performs maintenance, installation, repair and troubleshooting work involved with electrical systems.\u00a0 Electrical work may be performed in a number of areas including heating, refrigeration, lighting, motors and generator equipment. Preventative maintenance includes regularly changing bulbs throughout E&amp;G facilities.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4531\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/facilities\/files\/2016\/12\/Faded-line-2-228x8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"228\" height=\"8\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mechanical Services\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><u>does not<\/u><\/strong>\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">charge for:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Repairing and\/or replacing existing equipment<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Damage caused from normal use.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-4531\" src=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/facilities\/files\/2016\/12\/Faded-line-2-228x8.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"228\" height=\"8\" \/><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Mechanical Services\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><u>does<\/u><\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0charge for:<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Department damage (not caused by normal use)<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Special requests for changes or improvements by departments (remodel, new power outlets, etc.).<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Services needed to repair specialized department equipment (e.g., appliances, lab equipment, etc.).<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Requesting Services<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\">Mechanical Services aims to respond quickly to requests for maintenance, trouble calls, and repairs.
