however this process may not be available until June 1st of each year.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Parent PLUS Direct Loans (Undergraduate Dependent Students Only)<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p>Parent PLUS Direct Loans are low-interest credit-based loans for the parents of dependent students.\u00a0 The lender is the U.S. Department of Education (DOE) rather than a bank or other financial institution.\u00a0 Interest is charged during all periods.\u00a0 All PLUS loan applicants must meet all general eligibility requirements for the Federal Student Aid programs.\u00a0 You can find more information about these requirements in the Funding Education Beyond High School: The Guide to Federal Student Aid or by going to the <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">Federal Student Aid Website<\/a> at <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Application for the Parent PLUS Direct Loan, which includes a Master Promissory Note (MPN), may be made online at <a href=\"https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/\">https:\/\/studentaid.gov\/<\/a>.\u00a0 A FAFSA for the student must be on file with the Financial Aid Office before a parent may apply.\u00a0 A parent may borrow up to an amount equal to the cost of attendance less any other financial aid awarded to the student.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Once the application has been submitted to, acknowledged, and pre-approved by the Department of Education (DOE), the borrower (parent) must submit a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/financialaid\/financial-aid-forms\/\">Direct PLUS Loan Status Retrieval Form<\/a>, a copy of their driver\u2019s license or state identification card to the Financial Aid Office.\u00a0\u00a0 Applicants who have been <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">pre-approved<\/span> will have funds credited to the student\u2019s account.\u00a0 If the loan is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">denied<\/span>, the borrower may resolve any incorrect information with the credit bureau and have Direct Loan reconsider the application or the borrower may have the loan resubmitted along with the endorsement of a co-signer.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If a parent is <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">denied<\/span> a Parent PLUS Direct Loan and decides not to resubmit for pre-approval, the student may be considered for an additional unsubsidized loan:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Freshmen<\/strong> and <strong>Sophomore <\/strong>students may qualify for up to <em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$4,000<\/span><\/strong><\/em> yearly.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Junior<\/strong> and <strong>Senior<\/strong> students may qualify for up to <em><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">$5,000<\/span><\/strong><\/em> yearly.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Direct Grad PLUS Loans (Graduate &amp;
