Studying\u00a0 abroad helps to meet this challenge by providing opportunities that internationalize JSU&#8217;s students and faculty through exposure and experiences around the world.<\/p>\n<p>Study abroad is when a student takes classes or have experiences in another country. These programs are\u00a0 excellent opportunities to see a new part of the world, experience a different culture, and TRAVEL. This allows you to maximize your experience and exposure to new places.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 19px\"><strong>The Different Types of Study Abroad Programs<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"><u><strong>Independent Study Abroad<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Choose from hundreds of study abroad opportunities from non-JSU institutions and providers, such as the Council on International Education Exchange (CIEE), CIS Abroad and SIT Study Abroad. With an indepedent study abroad prgram, you select the program that is appropiate fro you and your academic, financial and cultural goals.<\/p>\n<p><u><strong><span style=\"font-size: 16px\">Faculty Led<\/span><\/strong><\/u><\/p>\n<p>Faculty led study abroad is short-term, academic experiences \/ programs that are initiated, organized and carried out by full-time members of JSU faculty. These programs vary in length and credit hours. Students are enrolled in a class at Jackson State, part of the class is taught on campus at JSU as an in-person, hybrid or online course as well as in another country.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"><u><strong>Volunteer\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A non-academic international experience were students travel abroad to volunteer or perform community service.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"><u><strong>Cultural Experience<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>A non-academic international experience in another country to become more familiar with the country&#8217;s culture, language, history, etc.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 16px\"><u><strong>Internship\u00a0<\/strong><\/u><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Students can intern in another country to gain practical experience in their field \/ major. The internship can count for academic and non academic credit.
