theses, co-supervise doctoral dissertations, serve on supervisory committees for students working toward post-baccalaureate degrees, and vote on nominations for the Graduate Council.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Assistant \u00a0Graduate Faculty<\/strong>\u00a0may teach graduate courses, supervise masters&#8217; theses, serve on supervisory committees for students working toward post-baccalaureate degrees, and vote on nominations for the Graduate Council.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Adjunct Graduate Faculty<\/strong> may be approved to (1) teach graduate courses and\/or (2) co-supervise and serve on supervisory committees for students working toward post-baccalaureate degrees.<\/p>\n<h3>PROCEDURE<\/h3>\n<p>The Graduate Faculty Status committee consists of one representative from each school at the University.\u00a0 The committee meets prior to the regularly scheduled Graduate Council meetings.\u00a0 All applications must be submitted to the committee chairperson by the second week in each month.\u00a0 After careful review of each application, the committee Graduate Council who act on the recommendations of the committee.<\/p>\n<p>The application process for graduate faculty status consists of several steps.<\/p>\n<p>1.\u00a0\u00a0 The faculty member must make their requests known to their department chair and college dean.<br \/>\n2.\u00a0\u00a0 The college dean forwards the request to the Dean of the Graduate School.<br \/>\n3.\u00a0 The Dean of the Division of Graduate Studies forwards all applications to the Graduate Faculty Status Committee Chairperson for action.<br \/>\n4.\u00a0\u00a0 The Chairperson of the Graduate Faculty Status Committee makes a report to the full Graduate Council, who acts on the recommendations of the committee.<br \/>\n5.\u00a0\u00a0 The Dean of the Division of Graduate Studies then notifies the Vice President for Academic Affairs.<br \/>\n6.\u00a0 The Vice President for Academic Affairs notifies the faculty member of the decision on graduate faculty status.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><strong>CRITERIA<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>GRADUATE FACULTY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Full members of the graduate faculty possess terminal degrees in their area of instruction or have achieved equivalent recognition through their research achievements.\u00a0 They are experienced professors, having at least five years&#8217; experience in higher education, including some graduate teaching, and having directed graduate student research and carried on their own research.<\/p>\n<p>To be admitted to the Graduate Faculty, an individual must have attained a high degree of proficiency both as a teacher and as a scholar, the latter demonstrated by recognized research or artistic creativity.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, he\/she should meet the following requirements:<\/p>\n<p>A.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hold the doctorate or a degree that is terminal in his\/her field of study.<br \/>\nB.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Hold the rank of Professor, Associate Professor or Assistant Professor.<br \/>\nC.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The faculty member must have published research and scholarly work during the last five years, or have demonstrated comparable, creative achievement.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0In disciplines where publication is the normal outlet for scholarly work or research, the faculty member must provide evidence of his or her significant publications appearing under the imprint of recognized scholarly publishing house\u00a0or journals.\u00a0 Publication must have resulted from a judgment of quality through a reviewing process.<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0In disciplines such as the fine arts where publication is not the normal or singular end product, the faculty member must provide evidence of creative work accomplished during the last five years.\u00a0 Presentation of creative work must\u00a0have resulted from a judgment of quality through a reviewing process.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>D.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The faculty member must indicate current involvement in research and\/or creative work.<\/p>\n<p>II.\u00a0 <span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>ASSOCIATE GRADUATE FACULTY<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Associate members of the graduate faculty have completed the terminal degree in the\u00a0 field, or a terminal degree in a closely related field with academic qualifications of 18 graduate hours, or a combination of terminal degree with professional qualifications in the field of application, and\u00a0have at least three years&#8217;
