Chamberlain<\/strong> serves as Associate Professor and Chair in the Department of History &amp; Philosophy, bringing two decades of experience as an educator, civil rights scholar, and historic preservationist.<\/p>\n<p>She holds degrees in History from Tougaloo College and the University of Mississippi. She has been a visiting Assistant Professor in History and African American Studies at the University of Mississippi, was founding Director of the COFO Civil Rights Education Center at Jackson State University, and served on faculty and in administration at Tougaloo College. Prior to her return to Jackson State University, she spent time in the non-profit sector engaging in historic preservation and serving as Chief Program Officer at the Emmett Till Interpretive Center.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chamberlain has presented her research on children\u2019s participation in the civil rights movement across the nation, published on movement history, been featured on panels and documentaries focused on historical memory and preservation, and facilitated teacher workshops for state, regional, and national organizations. She has also contributed to the planning of civil rights commemorations and served as a scholar-consultant to several documentaries and civil rights projects \u2013 including the documentary \u201cEverlasting: The Life and Legacy of Medgar Evers\u201d; and the Two<br \/>\nMississippi Museums in Jackson, MS, and the National Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, TN.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Chamberlain\u2019s areas of expertise are Modern U.S. History, African American History, the Modern Civil Rights Movement, and Youth Activism and Social Movements. She has a contract with the University Press of Mississippi for an upcoming co-authored work entitled A.M.E.
