Department of Interdisciplinary Alcohol/Drug Studies Center

Student Internships

The Center provides paid and unpaid Internships for both graduate and undergraduate students.  The internships provide students with the work experience they need to obtain a paying job in their field.  It also, help them gain hours needed towards becoming a Certified Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Licensed Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LCADC), or a Certified Prevention Specialist (CPS).

The Center has been fortunate enough over the last several years to provide over one hundred and thirty-five students with paid internships thorough grant funding.   In 2015-2016 over $65,000 in stipends were awarded to JSU graduate and undergrad students to work as interns in the Center and in other community programs located in Jackson, MS.

Through these internships some students have been able to obtain permanent jobs at several sites to include the Mississippi Department of Mental Health, Hinds Behaviors Health Center, My Brother’s Keeper and Alcohol Services Center Inc.
