About:<\/strong> Horton, of Clinton, has worked in the mental health field for a total of 15+ years. Horton presently serves as the Director of the Latasha Norman Center for Counseling Services; motivating and empowering students to achieve the mental fortitude for success in all aspects of their lives. Horton also serves as an advocate, and agent of change for its students; where his notable experience includes extensive work with suicidality, anger management, self-esteem, bipolar, anxiety, depression, and other multifaceted behavior implications. Horton utilizes solution focused, evidence-based, resilience-building interventions to support students in optimizing their mental health. As Horton states, “I believe in turning pain into power, as well as in the power of redemption. Stories are powerful and we all deserve the opportunity to tell ours and to have a second chance at life. The human parts of you matter.” Horton also serves as an Adjunct Professor for the Department of Psychology as well. He holds a master\u2019s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and a bachelor\u2019s degree in Psychology, both from Jackson State University. His interests carry over into music as well.<\/p>\n

About:<\/strong> Mrs.\u00a0Washington<\/span> has an expansive background in mental health, social work, education and tourism. She is a proud alumna of Jackson State University, and has pursued her Bachelor\u2019s and Master\u2019s degrees in Social Work and Community Counseling. Mrs. Washington<\/span>\u00a0currently serves as a mental health counselor as well as the Assistant Director at the Latasha Norman Center for Counseling Services at Jackson State University.<\/p>\n

About:<\/strong> O\u2019Quinn has over 30 years of experience in the field of mental health in the areas of case management, mental health and substance abuse counseling. This also includes experience in research aimed at addressing the issues of the incarcerated mentally ill. O\u2019Quinn\u2019s main area of focus is the role of emotional awareness in mental health, the promotion of help seeking behaviors, and substance abuse recovery.<\/p>\n
