Thornton Early Childhood center is a bridging and transition program for children who will be entering a kindergarten program in the fall.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Kindergarten is a landmark year in the lives of children and their families.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">It is the first year of formal schooling and often defines future school outcomes for children.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Understanding the importance of kindergarten readiness, the center has developed a program that focuses on preparing young children for their transition to kindergarten.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px;\"><span style=\"font-size: 14px;\"><span style=\"font-family: arial,helvetica,sans-serif;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The second half of the school year\u00a0<\/span><i><span style=\"color: #000000;\">kinder-Bound<\/span><\/i><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0children begin reading, writing and math activities that will help them be successful in kindergarten.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The preschool teacher helps K<\/span><i><span style=\"color: #000000;\">inder-Bound<\/span><\/i><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0students to strengthen their ability to ask questions, make friends, develop interests in academic subjects such as science, and they spend time addressing each child\u2019s special needs.<\/span><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u00a0\u00a0By focusing on essential aspects of Kinder-Bound children\u2019s lives, the center is seeking to help each child succeed in school.
