{"id":4645,"date":"2025-01-24T14:59:07","date_gmt":"2025-01-24T14:59:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/margaretwalkercenter\/?p=4645"},"modified":"2025-09-04T18:22:49","modified_gmt":"2025-09-04T18:22:49","slug":"2025-case-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/margaretwalkercenter\/2025\/01\/24\/2025-case-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"2025 CASE Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<h4 data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\"><strong>About<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p data-pm-slice=\"1 1 []\">In partnership with Jackson State University, the Mississippi Arts Commission, and the Mississippi Humanities Council, the Margaret Walker Center is proud to host the 19th Annual Creative Arts &amp; Scholarly Engagement (CASE) Festival, scheduled for this <strong>Friday and Saturday, April 4 &amp; 5, 2025<\/strong>. The CASE Festival will feature a keynote address by <strong>Natasha Trethewey<\/strong>, a Mississippian, former U.S. Poet Laureate, and Pulitzer Prize-winner.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, the festival invites high school, undergraduate, and graduate students to submit their essays, spoken word pieces, performing arts presentations, visual art, poems, fiction, and more to present in front of an audience of peers and professors. Seeing the tremendous scholarship and artistry these students produce is a highlight for the Margaret Walker Center each year.<\/p>\n<p>The festival will also highlight the life and legacy of Emmett Till and will open with a plenary conversation featuring the staff of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.emmett-till.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\"><strong>Emmett Till Interpretive Center<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>All events are <strong>free and open to the public<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h4><strong>Schedule<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;font-size: 12pt\">View the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/margaretwalkercenter\/files\/2025\/04\/Schedule-of-Events-and-Concurrent-Sessions-2.pdf\">Schedule of Events and Concurrent Sessions<\/a> for a more detailed breakdown of individual panels and locations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h5><strong>Friday, April 4 &#8211; COFO Civil Rights Education Center<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p><strong>3:00 p.m. &#8211; 4:20 p.m.<\/strong> Remembering Emmet Till 70 Years Later: Rev.
