Undergraduate Studies<\/h4>\n

BACHELOR OF SCIENCE DEGREES<\/strong><\/h3>\n

We offer three undergraduate degree programs in the Department of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences. For those students who intended to seek careers in, for example, medical or pharmaceutical companies, technology industries, or financial trading, government, the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mathematics<\/strong> and the Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Statistics<\/strong> are most appropriate. The B.S. degree is also necessary for students who plan to go on to study Mathematics or Statistics in graduate school. The third undergraduate degree offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistical Sciences is the Bachelor of Science in Education (B.S. Ed). The B.S. Ed degree is suited for students interested in teaching mathematics at the high school or even junior college level. Students who completed the B.S. Ed are also prepared to enter graduate programs.<\/p>\n

  1. Must meet the admission requirements of Jackson State University\u00a0(see https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/apply<\/a>)<\/li>\n
  2. Preferred adequate high school mathematics preparation to begin calculus sequence.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Degree Requirements<\/strong><\/h4>\n

    B.S. Mathematics or B.S.Ed (Mathematics Education)<\/u><\/h4>\n
      \n
    1. 120-124 credit hours including transfer credits<\/li>\n
    2. Maintain overall GPA of 2.0<\/li>\n
    3. Maintain GPA of 2.5 in all core mathematics courses<\/li>\n
    4. Additional requirements of B.S. Ed\n
