\n\tFour PPAD students and Dr. Jae-Young Ko<\/strong>, PPAD Associate Professor presented their research at the Annual Conference of Mississippi Political Science Association (MSPSA) at the University of Southern Mississippi, Hattiesburg, Mississippi on February 8th<\/sup> and 9th<\/sup>, 2019. \n<\/p>\n

\n\tMs. Sheryl Bacon <\/strong>(doctoral student) presented her research on environmental quality (title: Lessons from Flint: mitigating the potential health threat of lead contamination in Jackson homes). Mr. Stephen Chisley <\/strong>(doctoral student) discussed the criminal justice (title: The impact of racial profiling on the deaths of unarmed Black males by police in the U.S., 2007-2017). Ms. Jennifer Lee <\/strong>(master student) talked about pension compliance (title: Increasing financial security for senior citizens with pension compliance). Mr. Gregory Ramsey <\/strong>(doctoral student) gave a talk on drug addiction (title: Drug overdose deaths: an impact analysis of the prescription drug monitoring program on Opioid abuse in Mississippi).  In addition, Mr. John Proctor<\/strong> (doctoral student) and Ms. Stephanie Wright <\/strong>(doctoral student) also attended the academic event. Dr. Jae-Young Ko <\/strong>presented his preliminary result on minority farming in the U.S. (title: an evaluation of USDA program in recovering Afro-American farmers in the United States).\n<\/p>\n

\n\tFurther, Dr. Francis Liddell<\/strong>, a retired faculty at PPAD, also attended and proposed an idea of co-hosting the annual conference between ASPA-MS chapter and MSPSA. Dr. Liddell has been the president of American Society of Public Administration  (ASPA)-Mississippi Chapter.  During the business meeting, Dr. Jae-Young Ko <\/strong>is elected as Member-At-Large<\/strong>. Mr. John Proctor <\/strong>will continuously serve MSPSA for another year as Graduate Student Representative.\n<\/p>\n

\n\tThe PPAD presentations on multiple areas in public policy  and Dr. Jae-Young Ko's  and Mr. Proctor's<\/strong> appointments <\/strong>illustrate well the the depth of the PPAD research program and its dedication to the academic activities for the State of Mississippi.\n<\/p>\n
