{"id":3691,"date":"2020-05-23T05:26:43","date_gmt":"2020-05-23T05:26:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/publicpolicy\/?p=3691"},"modified":"2020-05-23T05:28:02","modified_gmt":"2020-05-23T05:28:02","slug":"2020-2021-teaching-fellows-program-at-the-mississippi-museum-of-art","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/publicpolicy\/2020\/05\/23\/2020-2021-teaching-fellows-program-at-the-mississippi-museum-of-art\/","title":{"rendered":"2020-2021 Teaching Fellows Program at the Mississippi Museum of Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>The Mississippi Museum of Art<\/strong> is currently seeking eight undergraduate or graduate students to be a part of its <strong>2020-2021<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Teaching Fellows Program.<\/strong> The Teaching Fellows program is a paid student-guide initiative intended<br \/>\nto bring together college students from four college and universities in the metro Jackson area (Jackson State<br \/>\nUniversity, Tougaloo College, Millsaps College, and Belhaven University) to engage with the Museum\u2019s<br \/>\ncollection and to teach K-12 students who visit the Museum annually. Fellows will undergo training during the<br \/>\nFall 2020 semester to be led by museum educators, curators, and local academics. After training, Fellows will<br \/>\nteach K-12 audiences in the Museum galleries during the Spring 2021 semester. This position is ideal for a<br \/>\nperson with interest in museums, history, child development, or education and offers both course-credit<br \/>\nthrough independent study and up to <strong>$2,500\/semester<\/strong> (as earned through fulfilling hourly time<br \/>\ncommitments).<\/p>\n<p><strong>THE COMMITMENT<\/strong><br \/>\n\u2022 10 hours per week during Fall 2020 (mandatory attendance on Tuesdays, 5:30-8:30)<br \/>\n\u2022 10 hours per week during Spring 2021 (during the Museum\u2019s public hours)<br \/>\nWork times will accommodate the student&#8217;s schedule, except for mandatory Tuesday evenings in Fall 2020.<br \/>\nApplicants must commit to both semesters and identify a faculty sponsor to oversee their work.
