In light of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Office of Research and Economic Development is providing the following information to support the continuity of research (to the extent possible). This information is complementary to the information provided by Jackson State University\u2019s COVID-19 update website (https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/covid19\/<\/a>). Researchers should remain up to date on relevant information, by frequently visiting this website. This site is a living document updating current events that impact the JSU campus.<\/p>\n

Due to the uncertainty about when we will return to normalcy, this information below is provided to assist researchers in navigating their research and sponsored programs responsibilities. The information will be updated periodically. Research sponsors are also providing information in the form of FAQs. We will post those FAQs here as we receive them.<\/p>\n

FAQs Relating to NSF\u2019s Implementation of OMB Memorandum M-20-26<\/a><\/p>\n

Last month the Foundation issued guidance on NSF\u2019s implementation<\/a>\u00a0of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) Memorandum (M-20-26<\/a>), entitled,\u00a0Extension of Administrative Relief for Recipients and Applicants of Federal Financial Assistance Directly Impacted by the Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) due to Loss of Operations<\/em>.\u00a0 NSF remains committed to working with the Administration, other federal agencies, and the research community to effectively respond to the COVID-19 national emergency.\u00a0 This issuance implemented updated guidance authorized by OMB Memorandum M-20-26 for recipients affected by COVID-19.\u00a0 The guidance extends two of the short-term administrative relief from specific requirements contained in 2 CFR Part 200,\u00a0Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards<\/em>, without compromising accountability requirements. These extensions, that go beyond what OMB previously outlined in Memorandum\u00a0M-20-17<\/a>, specifically pertain to the allowability of salaries and other project activities and single audit submission.\u00a0 In order to support charges against NSF awards, recipients are reminded of their responsibility to maintain appropriate records and documentation to support the charges in accordance with institutional policies and procedures.\u00a0OMB Memoranda M-20-17 and\u00a0M-20-20<\/a>\u00a0have been rescinded.<\/p>\n
