Sampson Library<\/strong><br \/>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 20.8px\">\n\tDesigned to help mid-career faculty understand and consider positions of academic leadership (e.g. departmental chair and&nbsp;program or center director), this workshop explores&nbsp;<span style=\"line-height: 20.8px\">the traditional and &quot;people&quot; skills needed for success as an academic leader,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 20.8px\">considerations in strategically selecting service and leadership roles that can lead to success in future academic leadership positions,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">duties and responsibilities of departmental chairs,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">the workload of departmental chairs and the challenge of maintaining work-life balance,&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">the extent to which faculty can and do maintain their own active research\/creative agendas while in academic leadership positions, and&nbsp;<\/span><span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">changes in relationships with colleagues who one now supervises and\/or evaluates.<\/span>\n<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-size: 13px;line-height: 20.8px\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 20.8px\">Light refreshments will be provided.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thursday, March 31, 2016 10:00 AM &#8211; 11:30 AM JSU INNOVATE Classroom, 1st Floor of the H.T.
