Reflection. Support. Progress.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Accountability Partner model is designed to help you stay committed to your writing goals this summer. Through mutual support, regular check-ins, and reflective feedback, you and your partner(s) will help each other build momentum and make meaningful progress toward publication.<\/p>\n<h4>&#x1f3af; Goals of the Partnership<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Motivation and consistency:<\/strong> Stay on track with your writing by checking in with someone who knows your goals.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Support and encouragement:<\/strong> Offer kind accountability and celebrate each other\u2019s progress.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Constructive peer feedback:<\/strong> Practice giving and receiving feedback that sharpens clarity and focus without requiring deep disciplinary expertise.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"two-column\">\n<div class=\"column\">\n<h4>&#x1f5d3; Meeting Expectations<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>You will be assigned 1\u20132 partners based on writing stage and broad discipline area.<\/li>\n<li>You are expected to check in with your partner(s) during our <strong>twice-weekly Zoom sessions.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>If you miss a session, set a brief alternative meeting time that week (via Zoom, email, or phone) to stay connected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>&#x2705; Partner Etiquette<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Be on time to your scheduled check-ins.<\/li>\n<li>Listen without interrupting. Ask clarifying questions.<\/li>\n<li>Offer encouragement as well as critique.<\/li>\n<li>Be honest, but never harsh\u2014assume positive intent.<\/li>\n<li>Respect confidentiality and each other\u2019s time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>&#x1f9ed; Feedback Philosophy<\/h4>\n<p>Feedback is not about editing or perfection. It\u2019s about offering a thoughtful, reader-centered response to someone else\u2019s thinking. You don\u2019t need to be in the same field to help someone clarify a thesis or organize an argument.<\/p>\n<h4>&#x1f4dd; Types of Feedback<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>Outlines and research statements<\/li>\n<li>Individual sections (e.g., literature review, methods, intro)<\/li>\n<li>Close reading of a single paragraph<\/li>\n<li>Response to clarity, coherence, and flow<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>&#x1f4a1; Weekly Prompts<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>What is the author trying to say?<\/li>\n<li>Where does it feel unclear, rushed, or repetitive?<\/li>\n<li>What stands out as strong or compelling?<\/li>\n<li>Where could the paragraph or idea go next?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"column\">\n<h4>&#x1f4ca; Tracking Progress<\/h4>\n<p>You\u2019ll have access to a <strong>shared Google Sheet<\/strong> for your accountability group. Use it to log:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Weekly writing goals<\/li>\n<li>Number of minutes\/hours written<\/li>\n<li>Sections completed or shared<\/li>\n<li>Feedback highlights<\/li>\n<li>Small wins and writing breakthroughs<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We\u2019ll refer to these during Zoom sessions as part of our momentum-building process.<\/p>\n<h4>&#x1f4ac; When Things Go Off Track<\/h4>\n<p>If your partner is unresponsive or falls behind:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reach out gently first\u2014life happens.<\/li>\n<li>If there\u2019s no response, or if you\u2019re concerned, notify the facilitator.<\/li>\n<li>Partners may be reassigned to ensure everyone stays supported.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>&#x1f331; Building Lasting Connection<\/h4>\n<p>Each week, you\u2019ll get optional <strong>reflection prompts<\/strong> and conversation starters to help deepen the partnership and build trust. You\u2019re also encouraged to share:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Writing strategies or tools that work for you<\/li>\n<li>Notes of encouragement or affirmations<\/li>\n<li>Article recommendations or journal leads<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Some accountability groups continue beyond the summer\u2014this is a chance to build something that lasts.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<h4>&#x1f3c1; Final Notes<\/h4>\n<p>By the end of the program, you should have:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A shared record of goals met and writing completed<\/li>\n<li>Feedback exchanged on several portions of your article<\/li>\n<li>A strong draft ready to polish for submission<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Most importantly, you\u2019ll have experienced the value of collaborative writing and built habits that can support your scholarship year-round.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&#x270d;&#xfe0f; SOAR Writing Circle: Accountability Partner Guide Motivation.
