Dr. Mikell serves as an assistant\u00a0professor in the Department of Political Science at Jackson State University (JSU). His teaching and research interests include American politics and government, primarily at state and local\u00a0levels. Prior to joining\u00a0JSU in 2012, he served as a visiting professor at the University of New Orleans and as an instructor at Augusta University in Augusta, Georgia.\u00a0 At JSU, Dr. Mikell leads courses in urban politics, the American presidency, civil rights and liberties, and other American and comparative politics.<\/span><\/div>\n

Dr. Eric R. Schmidt is an assistant professor of government and politics at Millsaps College. He received his doctoral degree from Indiana University. Before his appointment as faculty at Millsaps College, Dr. Schmidt taught at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minnesota. At Millsaps, Dr. Schmidt teaches courses on American politics, political parties and interest groups, research methods and political philosophy. His research examines how partisan polarization has influenced the way Americans think about and identify with political parties.\u00a0<\/span><\/div>\n

His research lies at the intersection of racial identity, intergroup relations, political opinions and political psychology.\u00a0Dr. Mangum earned a Bachelor of Political Science degree from the University of Iowa, a Master of Arts in Political Science degree from Ohio State University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Political Science degree from Louisiana State University. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
