Phil Bryant"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\tMs. Latosha Christmas, (BSW &#039;14; MSW &#039;16) won Social Worker of the Year award for the Mississippi Department of Child Protective Services (MDCPS) West region of the state. Ms. Regina Lacking, (MSW &#039;15) said &quot;Ms. Christmas has been with the agency for 8 months; that says a lot.&quot; The award was presented with the Governor Phil Bryant. Lacking went on to say &quot;I am so proud of her. She represents me and the agency with professionalism and grace. I can go on and on about her. She is a leader, and will go far.&quot; In addition to Christmas&#039; award, Governor Phil Bryant honored two other SSW alums, Ms. Melody Vaughn, (BSW &#039;08; MSW &#039;15) and Ms. Tausha Rawls, (BSW &#039;16). Vaughn and Rawls are credited with saving the life a Madison County child whose parents have been charged in what authorities said is one of the worst cases of child abuse they had ever seen.
