{"id":138,"date":"2014-07-14T23:51:28","date_gmt":"2014-07-14T23:51:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/?page_id=138"},"modified":"2014-07-14T23:51:28","modified_gmt":"2014-07-14T23:51:28","slug":"2-5-4grant-and-contract-employees","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/2-5-4grant-and-contract-employees\/","title":{"rendered":"2.5.4\tGrant and Contract Employees"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tGrants and Contract employees are hired for a position where funds are provided through external funding in the form of a contract or grant.&nbsp; Employees in this category are entitled to Jackson State University benefits according to their employment status; i.e., full-time, part-time, or temporary.&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tIn accordance with the United States Office of Management and Budget (O.M.B.) Circular A-21.J.6.a., all full-time faculty and staff employed at Jackson State University through Contracts and Grants are afforded all fringe benefits of the University.&nbsp; Benefits must be consistently applied to individuals who are in the employment of the University regardless of whether they are paid from the Educational and General (E &amp; G) budget or external grants and contracts. &nbsp;All policies relative to personnel and leave time for which payment is received or leave taken by the employee must be consistent throughout the University.\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tAll Contracts and Grant employees will be afforded the following leave benefits:\n<\/div>\n<p>\n\t<u style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">Staff Employees:<\/u>\n<\/p>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n<ul>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n\t\t\t\tAll 12-month Contract and Grant <u>staff<\/u> will accrue Personal and Major Medical Leave in accordance with the established University leave accrual rate.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n\t\t\t\tAll 12-month Contract and Grant <u>staff<\/u> employees will be paid for up to 240-hours of accrued Personal leave upon termination from state service.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n\t\t\t\tAll unused Personal and Major Medical Leave for Contract and Grant <u>staff<\/u>, in excess of 240 hours, at termination from state service, will be forwarded to the State Public Employees&rsquo; Retirement System to be applied toward creditable state retirement service.\n\t\t\t<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"text-align: left\">\n\t\t<u style=\"text-align: justify;line-height: 1.6em\">Terminal Leave Payments:<\/u>\n\t<\/p>\n<div>\n\t\tTerminal Leave payments to Contract and Grant <u>staff<\/u> will be paid from Grant fund sources when at all possible.&nbsp; These funds should be built into the fringe benefit costs at the inception of the Grant.&nbsp; However, if the Grant is unable to fund Terminal leave payments, then the Terminal leave will be paid from the University&rsquo;s designated account entitled:&nbsp; Terminal Leave \/ Grants.\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\tEmployees hired into a Contract and Grant will be allowed to transfer accrued Personal and Major Medical leave balances in accordance with University policy regarding leave transfers from state agencies and University departments.\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\t&nbsp;\n\t<\/div>\n<div>\n\t\tAny questions regarding this policy should be addressed to the Division of Human Resources.\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Grants and Contract employees are hired for a position where funds are provided through external funding in the form of a contract or grant.&nbsp; Employees in this category are entitled to Jackson State University benefits according to their employment status; i.e., full-time, part-time, or temporary.&nbsp; &nbsp; In accordance with the United States Office of Management [&hellip;]<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":78,"featured_media":0,"parent":0,"menu_order":0,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","template":"","meta":{"_monsterinsights_skip_tracking":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_active":false,"_monsterinsights_sitenote_note":"","_monsterinsights_sitenote_category":0},"aioseo_notices":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/138"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/page"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/78"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=138"}],"version-history":[{"count":1,"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/138\/revisions"}],"predecessor-version":[{"id":139,"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/pages\/138\/revisions\/139"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.jsums.edu\/staffhandbook\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=138"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
