Temporary employees are not eligible for holiday pay.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tAll administrative and staff personnel of the University are expected to render such service as necessary for the effective operation of their respective departments and the University during holidays.&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tAlternatively, the employee may schedule a different day off at a time mutually agreeable to the employee and supervisor during the work-week in which a holiday falls, whereby the employee would receive compensation for actual hours worked on the holiday unless such hours exceed 40 hours worked for the work-week.&nbsp; Compensatory time off will be given first consideration.&nbsp; When applicable, FLSA requirements pertaining to hours worked and holiday pay will be adhered to. &nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tIt is the responsibility of the supervisor or director to keep accurate records of number of compensatory hours earned each week.&nbsp; The willful falsification of records may subject the supervisor and\/or the employee to criminal action.\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left: 1in;text-align: justify\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tIn the event a holiday falls on a Sunday, the following Monday will be observed as a holiday.&nbsp; Likewise, when one of the University&#039;s recognized holiday falls on a Saturday, the preceding Friday will be observed as a holiday.\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\tAny official or declared closing of the University which falls within a period of an employee&#039;s approved personal and\/or major medical leave shall be considered holiday leave and shall not be deducted from the employee&#039;s accrued personal leave.\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t<strong>Qualifying for Paid Holidays<\/strong>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"text-align: justify\">\n\t<span style=\"line-height: 1.6em\">To qualify for paid holidays, an employee is required to work both the working day before and after the holiday occurs.&nbsp; The work-day before and after the holiday would be defined as the regularly scheduled work-day for each employee&#039;s job.&nbsp;<\/span>\n<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-left: 0.5in\">\n\t&nbsp;\n<\/div>\n<div>\n\tPersonal and major medical leave <strong>MAY NOT <\/strong>be used in lieu of days taken before or after a paid holiday unless the employee is on an approved leave of absence, a medical leave, or vacation.\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Administrative and staff personnel will receive the basic holidays recognized by the University.&nbsp;
