Service learning is designed to connect curriculum and the community together by providing students <\/span>with proper resources and quality experiences. Through Service learning, students are able to apply the <\/span>knowledge learned in the classroom at local agencies. Students will also gain the necessary skill sets from <\/span>community partners in order to be able to compete on a global level. <\/span>Service learning aims to further faculty research and teaching, enhance students’ education, and build community partnerships that create a win-win for all parties involved.\u00a0 The learning environment at Jackson State University is enriched through experiential learning, as stated in the university’s core values.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Harden Center for Service develops Service Learning Programming to address the specific needs of our Community Partners while making an impact on the student learning process. The Service Learning S.T.E.A.M. Project is an initiative that aims to target undergraduate students in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics. Its purpose is to connect each student with community partners in their specific discipline and provide hands-on experiences and practices that are essential to the development of the colligate experiences.<\/span><\/p>\n
