Chemistry is the study of how matter behaves at its most basic level. The central science, chemistry, is involved in everything that we do. Its applications stretch across all areas of life, including medicine, engineering and agriculture.

Welcome to Chemistry Facilities at Jackson State University

The Department of Chemistry has two main multi-user core facilities: the Analytical Core Facilities and the NMR Core Facilties. Each facilty is managed by a faculty manager and maintained by a full-time technician. These facilities are equipped with state-of-the-art equipment including NMR spectrometers ranging 250 to 500 MHz, UV-Vis-NIR Spectrophotometer, Spectrofluorometer, Atomic Absorption Spectrometer, FTIR spectrometer, Raman Spectrometer, HPLC, GC, LC/MS/MS, CE/MS and GC/MS.

The Department of Chemistry has played a major role in aquring fundings and producing peer-reviewed publications while striving to provide high quality instructional programs and to strengthen faculty research programs.
