Detachment 006, the Soaring Tigers, is hosted at Jackson State University. Our instructors help cadets develop leadership skills and prepare for commissioning in the U.S. Air Force or U.S. Space Force while they earn their college degree.

How crosstown participation works
You attend your home college for your degree and participate in AFROTC through JSU. Plan for travel to detachment activities and coordinate your class schedule with our team.
Before registering: Contact Det 006 to confirm your academic timeline and the current JSU cross-registration or transient-student process. We will help you identify the appropriate enrollment steps.
Admission to your college and enrollment in AFROTC are separate. Our interest form starts a conversation with the detachment; it does not apply you to any university.
