Christopher Wayne Robinson

Dr. Christopher Wayne Robinson currently serves as associate professor of social work and project director of the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) Behavioral Health Paraprofessional Scholarship Program at the Community College of Allegheny County (CCAC) in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Dr. Robinson also serves as the clinical outpatient supervisor as a licensed social worker at Gateway Rehab in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania working closely with individuals with substance use disorders. 

Dr. Robinson’s teaching interests involve cultural competence and diverse populations, human behavior in the social environment, social welfare, community resources and social work interviewing skills. His primary research interests include understanding effective strategies for increasing high school and community college students’ access to minority-serving institutions (MSIs) such as historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs). Professor Robinson is also committed to increasing Black males’ health care access along the HIV/AIDS continuum of care and using evidence-based school social work models to improve minority male achievement in urban public school settings.

Christopher Robinson is a native of Kalamazoo, Michigan who has resided in the city of Pittsburgh for 13 years. He is also a member of the National Association of Social Workers, National Association of Black Social Workers, the National Council on Black American Affairs, Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated, and vice president/co-founder of the Western Pennsylvania Council of HBCU Alumni. Dr. Robinson received a Bachelor of Social Work degree from Jackson State University in 2006, a graduate certificate in Human Services Management, and a Master’s of Social Work degree from the University of Pittsburgh School of Social Work in 2007. Christopher earned his doctorate in Higher Education Administration and Leadership Studies from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in 2017.
