Biography

Faculty member since 2023

Dr. Marcus Ambe is an internationally recognized scholar-practitioner with over 20 years of expertise in supply chain management. He is an Associate Professor of Supply Chain Management and the Founder & President of the African Institute for Supply Chain Research (AISCR), a continental network advancing supply chain scholarship and practice. Previously, he was a Full Professor at the University of South Africa, where he also served as Interim Chair of the Department of Applied Management, Chair of the Public Tender Committee, and Deputy Chair of the Interim Supply Chain Management Council. In these roles, he advanced academic governance, procurement reform, and professional development. Dr. Ambe has authored over 100 publications, including three textbooks, with over 1,800 citations (h-index 23, i10-index 35). His research has attracted major funding, and he has supervised numerous postgraduate students. He serves as Guest Editor for Special Issues for the Journal of Humanitarian Logistics and Supply Chain Management (2024–2025) and the Journal of Global Operations and Strategic Sourcing (2020–2021). Recognized with multiple awards, his work advances procurement and supply chain management as drivers of socio-economic development in Africa and globally.
