Mina Li

Major Responsibilities:

• Manage the daily operations of the projects in Health Services and Research unit of the agency.

• Coordinate project activities and supervise the project staff while exercising independent judgment and a high degree of discretionary authority.

• Provide technical and administrative assistance and research support to identify the needs and available resources related to the projects.

• Assist the Executive Director to ensure the projects remain with in funding limitations, adherence to reporting requirements.

• Solicit and conduct health and related areas research and grant writing.

• Teach one class (per year).

• Coordinate with Executive Director to receive, approve and submit all sub­contractors invoices and PO’s through the agency and the university systems.

Select Accomplishments (Honors received since graduate):

• Received National Alpha Epsilon Lambda Honor Society Recognition Award, which is to honor graduate and professional students for academic and leadership accomplishments (2010).

• Received National Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society membership (2011).

• Selected as a council member of US Region IV Health Equity Council, OMH, the

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (2011). The council works with communities, private and public stakeholders to develop the National Partnership for Action to End Health Disparities and to improve the health, safety and wellbeing of communities in Region IV, which includes Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida.

• Hold numerous memberships of national and profession organizations, e.g. American Public Health Association, American Association on Health and Disability, National Association of Chronic Disease Directors, and etc.

How has the degree helped in the career? The Ph.D. Program:

• Provided extending knowledge in the administration and leadership field.

• Introduced American “Urban Setting” and mechanisms of making changes by acting as a “Catalyst”.

• Presented concepts that could be utilized right-away in the work setting.

• Helped enhance verbal and written communication skills and reasoning.

• Uncovered the principles and models that could change the way of practice and make positive impact in the underserved communities.

• Gave the opportunity of increasing personal intellectual capabilities, interests, and problem solving skills.

• Opened the door to meet and work with professionals and experts in the field.

• Offered a competitive edge for me to get higher level promotional career change (with gaining financial benefit) at the period of economic down-side because of this advanced degree.
