Dr. Carrine H. Bishop is an Adjunct Professor with the Executive Ph.D. Program in Urban Higher Education at Jackson State University. She is the former Chair of the Department of  Educational Leadership in the College of Educational and Human Development. She received her B.S. Degree from Jackson State University, the Master of Science in Education from Loyola University of the South, and the PhD in Higher Education and Students Personnel from the University of Mississippi. She has participated in post doctorate studies in education, leadership, and higher education at Furman University, Oxford University, Harvard University, and the following International Universities; the University of Havana, Havana Cuba, the Federal University of Salvador Bahia, in Salvador, Brazil, Federal University of Sao Paulo, in Sao Paulo Brazil, University of Panama, Panama Central America, and Bluefield Indians Caribbean University in Bluefield, Nicaragua. Dr. Bishop has served as consultant to higher educational administrators’ and faculty at the University of Liberia, in Monrovia, Liberia, The University of Zuland, in South Africa, Bluefield Indians Caribbean University in Bluefield, Nicaragua, and Durban Technology University, in Durban, South Africa.  Dr. Bishop has directed numerous dissertations; she is the recipient of several dissertation awards, a Fulbright Research Fellow to Brazil, Educare Advisory Invitational Award to South Africa, and Jackson State University and the Institutions of Higher Learning “Headwae” Award. Dr Bishop’s, teaching and research interest are issues that are related to; higher education, women in higher education, social justice, race and cultural, equity , shared governance and other issues that are related to urban and higher education.
