Opera South Bootcamp

Director of Opera and Assistant Professor of Vocal Music at Jackson State, Dr. Phyllis Lewis-Hale will host an NEA-funded Summer Opera South Bootcamp at Jackson State for twelve students from HBCUs. The group will begin rehearsals for the concert production of Jubilee: A Folk Opera. Four vocal students from Yale will also join the group along with pianist and composer Randy Klein; libretto writer Joan Ross Sorkin; and Dr. Albert Lee, an Associate Professor and Director of Equity, Belonging, and Student Life in the Yale School of Music.

The COFO Civil Rights Education Center will remain open to visitors during the camp.
