Anthony Dean

A native of Oxford, MS, Anthony Dean received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications, with a minor in Public Relations, from the University of Mississippi.

Additionally, Dean graduated from Bradley University’s Foster College of Business’, Managing Effective Organizations Program, the Advanced Strategic Management Program, Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania Philadelphia, PA, and the Public Telecommunications Financial Management Program sponsored by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting.

He is the former Director of University Communications at Jackson State University.  As the Director of University Communications, the Office of Public Relations, Athletic Media Relations, WJSU 88.5 FM, Public Radio at Jackson State and JSUTV reported to him.

As an administrator, Dean was the chief spokesperson for the University. He planned and implemented local, regional, and national strategic communication initiatives, campus and division marketing and awareness campaigns, public relations activities, press relations, focused publications and strategic electronic and Internet-based University Relations materials.

Dean has served as President of the University of Alabama-Troy State University-Alabama State University Educational Radio Corporation. Under his leadership, the Corporation constructed a 50,000-watt public radio station for central Alabama, and he was the liaison to National Public Radio, the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and other state, regional, and national organizations.

Understanding the importance of professional affiliations, Dean has served as a member of the Board of Directors of National Public Radio, Public Radio in Mid-America, and is co-founder of the National Association of Blacks in Public Broadcasting and Southern Public Radio.  Additional boards of directors include Opera Illinois, Tri County Urban League (Vice Chairman), Lakeview Museum (Peoria, IL), Children Hospital of Illinois, Counseling and Family Services (President of the Board of Directors, Peoria, IL), and the Heritage Ensemble.
