Admission Requirements

Admission to Teacher Education

College Coursework

Students are required to have completed a minimum of 60 hours of college coursework

GPA Requirement

Overall GPA of 3.0 (Test exempt) with Completed and Approved Teacher Education Application or
Overall GPA of 2.75, with one of the following (Passing Praxis Core Scores in Math, Reading and Writing or 21 ACT Score or 1060 SAT Score)

Exemption from Praxis

To be exempt from Praxis I, students are required to have an ACT score of 21 or a SAT score of 1060 score or A minimum GPA of 3.0 on a minimum of 60 general education credits

Gather Necessary Documents

Signed Core Curriculum Review Form (must be signed by Faculty Advisor and uploaded in TK20)

Department Approval

All substitute courses must be approved departmentally

Admission to Student Teaching

Admission

Been admitted into Teacher Education and completed all general and major department education courses

Professional Courses

Have a grade of “C” or better in all professional courses

Transcript

Transcript cannot have any L’s

Student Teaching Application

Completed and approved Student Teaching Application (Watermark)

Necessary Documents

Provided proof of pass or fail on Praxis Il exams, Principles of Learning and Teaching (PLT), and Foundations of Reading (if applicable). Secondary Majors provide proof of pass or fail Content Area and PLT exams.

Minimum GPA

Maintain a minimum overall grade point average of 2.75
