On April 14-16, 2011, Dr. Jacqueline Jackson attended the 2011 ADMI Symposium on Computing at Minority Institutions at Clemson University in Clemson, South Carolina.  The ADMI conference provides an avenue for faculty and students at minority institutions to present their research and it also serves as an avenue for professional development.  In additional to the research presentations, emerging technology was introduced via special guests. Dr. Jackson participated in this conference in three ways, as an attendee, a presenter and a student poster judge. One of the sessions attended was JSUAdvance‘s roundtable discussion on the advancement of female faculty in Computer Science at minority institutions. It was presented in the format of a roundtable and a discussion followed. While at the conference, she also presented a paper entitled: “Increasing Interest In and Understanding of Computing Through Computational Thinking and Computing Innovations”.  During this presentation, the new initiative we have within the Department of Computer Science to raise awareness of and increase interest in computing was discussed.
