Facilities

Cleaning:  In light of the ongoing COVID-19 developments, Jackson State University follows preventative cleaning measures to preserve healthy environments and help slow the spread of the virus. The environmental sanitization (disinfecting) procedures executed were: sanitation of all conference rooms, classrooms, common areas that are frequently touched. Additional spaces include door areas, keyboards, tables, handrails, elevators, stairwells, front doors/door glass, fountains, elevator panels, phones, trash cans, ledges, drink machines, etc. Please note that personal items are not moved in offices. Deep sanitation was completed on June 3, 2020, on the main campus. As a part of the daily routine, restrooms, hallways, and frequently touched areas are serviced, i.e., cleaning toilets, sinks, emptying trash, sweeping/mopping, vacuuming, etc. twice a day.  Please note that a deep disinfecting sanitation service will begin upon processing that will occur each night (communication must be sent out to notify faculty/staff to clean off desks before nightly service due to fogger).

Sanitizer: Hand sanitizer dispensers are provided at all building entrances, elevators, classrooms, restrooms, breakrooms, and other high-traffic areas within buildings. Hand sanitizer must be alcohol based and contain at least 60% ethanol. For assistance in determining where hand sanitizer dispensers should be placed, departments should contact Facilities Management.

Disinfectant: A sufficient supply of disinfectant products and cleaning supplies have been made available so departments and employees can clean their workspaces and vehicles throughout the day. Departments should contact Facilities Management for assistance in obtaining appropriate disinfectant products and cleaning supplies.

Signage: Appropriate signage has been developed and shall be posted throughout campus to educate and promote adherence to public health practices, including hand hygiene, physical distancing, proper cough/sneeze etiquette, frequent disinfection of common and high traffic areas, symptom assessment, temperature checks, and face masks/coverings in public.
