An alumnus of Jackson State University, he earned his Bachelor of Science in 2004, a Master of Science in Teaching in 2006, and a Ph.D. in Urban Higher Education in 2012. Dr. Wilson began his teaching career in 2007 and has since held multiple leadership roles, including Director of the School of Lifelong Learning, where he oversaw degree programs serving hundreds of adult learners.

His research emphasizes instructional delivery and student support, supported by numerous peer-reviewed articles and national conference presentations. Dr. Wilson has also contributed to securing over 20 grants for initiatives in adult literacy, international education, and workforce training.

Since 2022, as Associate Dean of Graduate Studies, he has worked to enhance graduate recruitment, streamline admissions, and standardize dissertation processes, including leading the development of the 2025 Doctoral Dissertation Guidelines. Through his service on key university and statewide committees, Dr. Wilson continues to champion educational equity and innovation, shaping the future of higher education for learners from all backgrounds.
