The faculty and staff advisors in the School of Lifelong Learning are committed to helping all students make informed academic and career development decisions. Our advisors are prepared to share appropriate, accurate, and timely information at every stage of your academic career. Each student admitted is assigned a departmental faculty advisor who is responsible for supporting student success by:
- Assisting you in selecting your interdisciplinary program of study.
- Helping you get connected to campus resources.
- Coaching you through the graduate school application process.
- Mentoring you through the job application (or career transition) process.

The Bachelor of Science in Professional Interdisciplinary Studies Degree Program is open to all adult learners who wish to study on a full-time or part-time basis. Students must meet all admissions requirements set forth by Jackson State University and the School of Lifelong Learning.
Applying to JSU is a simple process through our Future Tigers admissions portal, and our advisors are always standing by and ready to help. You can monitor your application status at any time in the portal—plus, it is where we will send you exclusive invitations to events and important notifications from campus. We are excited to receive your application!
Students who are interested in attending are welcomed to arrange a meeting with an academic advisor to have a preliminary review of their transcripts completed to give them an indication of what will be required to complete an undergraduate degree in any of the academic programs within the School of Lifelong Learning. Adult Training for Lifelong Learning Advancement Support Services (ATLASS)
Scholarship Criteria
PURPOSE
The Adult Training for Lifelong Advancement Support Services (ATLASS) Scholarship, within the School of Lifelong Learning at Jackson State University, provides financial support services for students majoring in the Bachelor of Science in Professional Interdisciplinary Studies and the Bachelor of University Studies in the form of tuition assistance.
REQUIREMENTS
1. Financial Aid Documentation
- If you do qualify for financial aid, please submit your Financial Aid Award Letter along with a copy of your current semester Account Summary.
Or
- If you do not qualify for financial aid, please submit documentation showing an established payment plan. If you are registered for at least one (1) class, please provide proof that all mandatory student fees and virtual course material fees have been paid.
The ATLASS Scholarship will not be applied to your account until this requirement is met.
2. Academic Standing
- Maintain a minimum of 2.0 GPA (or equivalent) and continuous class attendance.
3. Application Completion
- Submit a fully completed, signed and dated ATLASS application form.
GUIDELINES
- Scholarships cannot be used to reimburse a student who has already paid tuition or made arrangements to pay tuition.
- Awards are contingent on fund availability and may vary annually.
- Scholarships will be awarded and disbursed during the Spring, Summer and Fall semesters.
Award Details
Each scholarship awarded will cover at least the cost of one 3-credit hour course. Award amounts may vary based on individual eligibility and available funding.
RENEWAL AND DURATION
- ALL applicants must reapply for a scholarship each academic semester for which they qualify.
- The School of Lifelong Learning reserves the right to determine the type of scholarship awarded each recipient.
- A scholarship recipient working toward an undergraduate degree can receive the scholarship for a maximum of eight semesters if they qualify.
