Brass Quintet

The Jackson State University Brass Quintet is a select student brass quintet that has existed for over forty years. In those years, it has received praise for its performances in recitals and select high profile performances around campus and off-site. Because of these performances, it is often one of the faces of the JSU Music Department. In order to be a member of the group, musicians are selected by the group's faculty advisor and are expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and hard work. The groups mission is to provide its members with an opportunity to play high-quality brass chamber music that is both educational and entertaining while simultaneously entertaining its audiences. They rehearse approximately three hours and receive weekly instruction from their coach. The group is coached by Dr. Patrick Rettger.
