The Department of Urban and Regional Planning at Jackson State University is proud to collaborate with the City of Jackson and One Voice to host several virtual Planning Month activities.

Community Service Project
The City of Jackson’s Department of Planning along with the Department in partnership with DURP will collect donated items for the homeless to be given to the Central Mississippi 500 Continuum of Care (CoC).  The donated items will be a part of the CoC’s 2020 Point-in-Time (PIT) Count care packages.  Donation drop boxes will be located in the Hood and Porter Buildings.

The Central Mississippi 500 Continuum of Care, lead by Christiana Knight, Planning Director, is comprised of service providers for the homeless in a five county service area:  Copiah, Hinds, Madison, Rankin, and Warren Counties.

Items to Donate:  Deodorant for men and women, soap, bodywash, winter scarfs, winter hats/gloves, toothpaste, and toothbrushes

Drop Off Locations:  City of Jackson (Hood Building 1st floor), City of Jackson (Porter Building 2nd floor), City of Jackson City Hall, and JSU 101 W. Capitol Street Building (Downtown)
Deadline for donations is Monday, November 9, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
