Multimedia and media production students in the School of Journalism and Media Studies, in collaboration with JSUTV, will debut their first half-hour news show beginning Feb. 13, 2017.

The new show, Tiger Report, will include news, sports and weather produced and presented by students on Mondays and Wednesdays  at 4:00 p.m. and will be re-broadcast at 9:00 p.m.  It will be seen on JSUTV Comcast Channel 14, Facebook and via Livestream.

Students will show off their talents to develop the show’s content and put what they have learned in their media classes to practical use. They will participate in all aspects of producing the show, serving as anchors, producers, videographers, editors, reporters, scriptwriters and production assistants. SJMS Instructor Don Spann and JSUTV General Manager Keith Collins will assist and guide students in all aspects of the show’s production.

The production of Tiger Report will afford SJMS students the opportunity to get hands-on experience in multimedia journalism, build their skills in newsgathering and production and enhance their marketability when they seek jobs in the industry.

“This will be a great tool for our students to help make them successful,” said Dr. Elayne H. Anthony, Dean of the School of Journalism and Media Studies. “Not only will this collaborative effort with our media practitioners model the professional behavior we expect of our students, it also will give them an outlet to showcase their work and show our alumni and others the good things our students are doing.”
