TITLE III

About TITLE III

Title III Programs at Jackson State University are federally funded initiatives designed to strengthen the institution’s academic quality, fiscal stability, and overall capacity to serve students. These programs support the University’s mission of guiding students in acquiring general, liberal, and professional education.
Title III funding is authorized under multiple sections of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended:

  • HBCU Program: Title III, Part B, Section 323
  • HBGI Program: Title III, Section 326
  • FUTURE Program: Title III, Part F, Section 371 (FUTURE Act)

Grant funds are administered responsibly and strategically to ensure that the goals of Title III and Jackson State University’s mission are fully supported. Each grant includes measurable objectives implemented through approved methods and strategies designed to achieve outcomes authorized by the U.S. Department of Education. Jackson State University currently manages a broad portfolio of Title III initiatives:

  • HBCU Grant: 21 active projects
  • HBGI Grant: 6 active projects
  • FUTURE Grant: 4 active projects

These activities operate across key areas of the University, including academic quality, student services and outcomes, institutional management, and fiscal stability. Collectively, they strengthen, elevate, and advance the University’s longterm goals.

Title III Programs at Jackson State University are administered under the Office of the President, ensuring alignment with institutional priorities and federal guidelines. Grant funds are managed with a focus on maximizing impact and supporting the University’s continued growth and success.

DEDICATED TO YOU

Title III funds are authorized under Part B, Sections 323 and 326 of the Higher Education Act of 1965, as amended.  The HBCU, HBCU-SAFRA, and HBGI Programs assist Jackson State University in “equalizing educational opportunities” for the populations served by providing funds to strengthen the physical plant, financial management, academic resources, and endowment. 

Grant funds are administered effectively to ensure that the goals of Title III and the University’s goal of guiding students in acquiring general, liberal, and professional education are achieved.  A series of measurable objectives are being implemented through identified methods and strategies were developed to achieve anticipated results approved by the United States Department of Education.  Currently, 22 activities operate in the areas of financial management, academic and academic support programs, student services, and endowment.

Jackson State University’s Institutional Aid–Title III Programs are administered through the Division of Research and Federal Relations.
