1. Coastal restoration using native and introduced grass and other plant species
2. Phytoremediation/bioremediation
3. Phenology of plants with anti-cancerous attributes
4. Gas exchange studies of plants in response to environmental stresses (e.g., metal toxicity, drought) and elevated CO₂ environments,
5. Renewable energy-biofuels
6. Plant-soil-microbe interactions
