Frequently Asked Questions

Q: How will I know if I have mail or a package?
A: Students are encouraged to check their mailboxes daily. However, notifications
are sent via JSU student email for packages held at the Postal Services counter.

Q: How long will you hold Packages?
A: We will hold packages for 7 business days. After 7 days, the item will be returned.

Q: When can I get a key or combination for my mailbox?
A: Once all registration is complete, students may come to Postal and be assigned a box.

Q: When will I know my box number?
A: Once student data card is completed, you will be provided a mailbox number.

Q: What ID is acceptable when setting up the JSU mailbox?
A: Your current JSU Student ID.

Q: Will I be issued a key or combination?
A: Combination mailboxes are initially distributed on a first come, first served basis, followed by keys.

Q: Can someone on campus receive mail without a mailbox?
A: No.

Q: Can students share mailboxes?
A: No, Jackson State University forbids mailbox sharing.

Please Be advised:

JSU™ Postal Services is UNABLE to accept third-party deliveries. If students have a delivery to campus from any food or grocery third-party service, the delivery should be coordinated directly with the delivery service. Using your campus mailing address is prohibited, as we cannot accept them at our postal facilities. 

If Amazon or another company (i.e., Amazon Flex, Walmart, Uber Eats, Grubhub, Shipt, DoorDash, Instacart, and Postmates) notifies you that your package has been delivered, please wait for the Package Notification email from the JSU™ Postal Services as your package may not have arrived on campus yet.
