Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) / Writing in the Disciplines (WID)

Writing Across the Curriculum (WAC) has been a focus of Jackson State University for decades.  Writing in the Disciplines (WID) was introduced in 2013, with a focus on writing intensive courses in Core courses, particularly those required by majors within the College of Liberal Arts.

The objectives of WAC / WID are:

  • To improve the quality of writing at the undergraduate and graduate levels
  • To support faculty as they work to improve student writing
  • To ensure that each JSU student evidences writing competencies to sustain their academic and career success
  • To stimulate and support writing collaborations within and across university disciplines
