Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering & Industrial Systems and Technology
College of Science, Engineering, and Technology

Civil Engineering, the oldest and broadest of the divisions of engineering, implements a range of public and private projects for improving the world’s environment.

Environmental Engineering

Environmental engineers are particularly concerned with engineering design issues protecting people from poor air and water quality, excessive noise and vibrations, harmful radiation, hazardous waste, and solid waste management problems. Environmental engineers design such systems as wastewater treatment plants. As engineers, they are responsible for the design, as well as the proper disposal of all wastes into the environment and in minimizing damaging effects of human activities.
